4am

The best time or the worst.
Inky black. Mysterious – yet candid.
Is the quiet my nemesis or sanctuary?
She will keep your secrets
Joy and sorrow find their way to my pillow at this hour.
She whispers silently in my ear.
Still… deafening.
She will keep your secrets
She needs no invitation.
Have you met 4am?
What does she know of you?
This is what I know of her…
….she will keep your secrets

Thanks Bab… that means a lot coming from you.♥
4am- she knows all too well my secrets, as well as…. the endless tears that sting my eyes and soak my pillow, the anguish and the longing that fills my heart, the confusion and the despair that fills my mind, the whispers and the screams that manage to escape my lips and the blisters on my hands from holding on so tight….
So true Jennifer. I’ve had some blisters from holding on tightly too. ~the mess
Thankfully, I have a couple of friends who are visited by the “monster of 4:00 am” as we call it. They are usually there when I go online to check out whatever pops into my brain at that time of day. It’s a good feeling to be drinking coffee at 4:30 am and be on the computer and have a buddy pop up in chat and ask “You ok?”.
Up, can’t sleep, thinking, and browsing.. I come across this and it falls right into why I’m up at 3:30am.. Beautifully spoken, where my words would be a lot more colorful.. Helps a lil. Thanks
I SO relate to this poem. Many nights I spend, awake, alone, sharing my secrets with the night. I have come to love 4 a.m. and all the sweet dark hours before her.
Love the poem. Thanks for sharing. Be blessed.
So good! So true! Thank you, Ms. Mess! Beautiful painting too!
